The Peddler Woman
I had a fascination for the old 18th and 19th Century
peddler dolls, with all the knicknacks in their baskets, all
handmade by the dollmaker. I couldn't resist trying it for
myself. She is selling yarn, candles, a peg wooden doll, hat
pins, books, prints of paintings, bottles of perfume and
tonics, and sewing notions. Also several fans and a wooden
washboard, which can't be seen in this photo.
For years, I have been collecting little pots and pans and
things like that so I can make a Peddler Man. Perhaps, one
day, I will do it.
(For a detailed article on how to make some of the items in
the peddler's basket go to the Workbook!)
